Abstract:#
The Positivity Problem asks: is every term in a recursively-defined sequence non-negative? Recent works, focusing on low-order P-finite sequences, have shown that problem instances for Positivity can be resolved by settling equality tests (e.g., determine whether a given constant is zero). Obstacles to progress arise because the constants involved in such tests are commonly expressed as the limits of infinite products or generalised continued fractions. In this talk, we will take an examples-based approach and present current challenges in the field.
